EUGENIA E. "GENE" MINNICK Age 93, of Upper St. Clair, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert J. and Mary Ellen Billings; beloved wife of William F. “Bud” Minnick, Jr. for 69 years; loving mother of William F. Minnick, III (Luann) of Mt. Lebanon, Nancy Leyritz (Michael) of Cincinnati and Mark Minnick (Laura) of Scottsdale, AZ; sister of Roberta "Bobbie" Holloway (the late Jack) of Scott Township. She was so happy anytime she could be with her six cherished grandchildren, Roman (Kelly) Supan, Stephanie and Alyssa Leyritz, Conor, Brooke and the late Joseph Minnick and her two great-grandsons, Hudson and Bennett Supan; also survived by her nieces and nephews. Eugenia was a graduate of Seton Hill University and loved spending time with her family, antique shopping, playing bridge, painting and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling. EDWARD DONALD "ED" PORTER Age 68, of Gibsonia, died Tuesday, July 16, 2019, in his home. He was born October 24, 1950, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Donald Edward Porter and Patricia Kervin Porter. A graduate of Immaculate Conception High School, Mr. Porter also graduated from three universities, University of Pittsburgh, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and Harvard University. From 1983-1986, he worked for the U.S. Treasury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He then worked as an economist for American Petroleum Institute, retiring after 25 years of service. Mr. Porter lived in Centreville, Virginia from 1986 to 2014, then moved back to Pennsylvania. On March 25, 1983, he married Mary Ethel Paine, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Elizabeth Jean Porter (John Johnson) of Tacoma Park, Maryland, Patricia Mary Porter (Joseph Kovacs) of Forest Hills, and Daniel Patrick Porter (Sara) of Inwood, West Virginia; a sister, Coleen Mehlmauer (Martin) of Houston; a brother, Gregory Porter of Washington; and a grandson, Dylan Edward Porter. JOHN "PAT" FUNYAK Of North Braddock, age 60, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. Loving brother of Joseph Funyak of North Braddock, Terri (Jack) Tierney of North Versailles, Michelle (Jerry) Sullivan of Braddock Hills, and Kathy (Jack) Clugston of Tionesta; cherished uncle of Meghan and Kayla Sullivan; Sarah and Ashley Funyak. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Fats" and Mary "Mitzie" Funyak. After graduating from General Braddock High School in 1976, Pat was hired at the Union Switch and Signal, where he worked for many years as a machinist. He also enjoyed working as a baker at Sgambati's Bakery in Braddock. Later in life, Pat worked at Coldwell Banker as a Realtor, and most recently was serving as a Nursing Assistant at Kane Regional Hospital in McKeesport. Pat was a speaker for Alcoholics Anonymous in the Pittsburgh area, always willing to visit local churches or take calls late at night, anything necessary to help folks along their journey. MARIE WILLIAMS Age 103, passed into God's loving care on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Asbury Heights. Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Harry A. Williams; two brothers, William Java (the late Alice) and Kevin Java; and her sister, Katherine Java. Loving mother to Glenn Williams (Donna) and Jean Hellmann (the late Dick); loving grandmother to Amy Newton, Doug Newton (Robyn), Todd Williams and Lee Texier and loving great-grandmother to Sage and Maya Williams and William Newton. She is also survived by her sister, Sophie Richardson (the late Donald); and many nieces and nephews. Her long life will be celebrated and missed by all. Marie was a member for 70 years at Mt. Lebanon Presbyterian Church serving in the kitchen and clipping coupons for the military. She also enjoyed volunteering at Salvation Army and Jubilee Kitchen. DANIEL J. "FROG" FRAUENHEIM Age 80, of O'Hara Township, PA, passed peacefully on July 16, 2019. He was the beloved son of the late Aloysius Frauenheim and Mary Kay (Brown) Frauenheim. Left behind to cherish his memory are his three beautiful daughters, Debbie Logan (Tom) of Emsworth, Kim Gallo of Cleveland, Ohio, Tracy Finke of Plum Boro and his special sweetheart and companion, Audrey Wood of Shaler Township. Other surviving family members include brothers, Pierce Frauenheim (Ann) of NJ, Gil Frauenheim (Virginia) of Pittsburgh; and sister, Karen Rihn (Tom) of Ligonier; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Al (Sonny) Frauenheim, Jr.; sister, Mary Louise Capello; and grandson, Michael Logan. A 1957 graduate of Aspinwall High School, he worked for 21 years for Penndot and then spent 34 years as a manager for W.L. Roenigk Bus Company in Sarver, PA, retiring in 2013. Dan enjoyed golfing and dancing and was a long time member of the RE Club in Sharpsburg. JOHN VICTOR GORAY November 29, 1926 – July 17, 2019. Son of John F. and Sophia (Kenderski) passed away surrounded by family in the neighborhood of his beloved wife, Madeline (Spataro). John's jovial spirit lives on through his sons, John E. (Kimberly) and Robert G. (Jamie), and through his grandchildren, Stefan (Lauren), John A. (Sheila), Josh (Amy), and Tyler (Justine). Raised in Brookline, John returned to Pittsburgh after his service in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII. His career as a sales engineer in the masonry restoration field allowed him to work on projects like the Statue of Liberty and the U.S. Capitol Building which he spoke of fondly. John's distinct humor never faltered and brought all those who encountered him joy, even as he left this world. JANET FAITH (JONES) MACHESKY Age 82, of 7370 Freestate Drive Middletown, MD, formerly of Leslie Road, Meadville passed away Sunday, July 14th, in Middletown, MD. Janet was born in Pittsburgh, on April 17, 1937, a daughter of the late Arthur James and Elizabeth (Long) Jones, Sr. On June 6, 1959 Janet married John M. Machesky, Sr.; he preceded her in death March 22, 1998. Janet worked as an Administrative Assistant for Alcoa of Pittsburgh and following her move to Meadville was employed by Allegheny College. She will be remembered for her passion for dancing, a talent that she appreciated her entire life and a wonderful sense of humor. Her children would that she had a big heart, an eye for a bargain, could dance till dawn and loved the Lord. Janet will be missed by her family and friends. Janet was the caring mother of her three children, John M. Machesky, Jr., Julie Machesky (Jeff Reece), Jennifer Machesky-Fullerton (William Fullerton); cherished grandmother of Jena Marie and Maedelyn Faith. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John of 38 years. WILLIAM E. COYLE Of Bethel Park, died Thursday, July 18, 2019, after a courageous and prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 64. Known as "Bill" to family and friends, he was born in Taunton, MA, on February 13, 1955, to William E. Coyle and the late Kathleen (Gregg) Coyle. His family lived in South Bend, IN, Miami, FL, and Falls Church, VA, before settling in Pittsburgh in 1964. Bill attended St. James and St. Thomas More elementary schools in Falls Church and Bethel Park and was a 1973 graduate of South Hills Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's in business administration from Duquesne University and a master's degree in taxation from Robert Morris College. His career included employment with the Department of the Navy; Mellon Bank; and Harbison Walker Refractories. He was presently in the employ of Lanxess Corporation in Coraopolis as a tax analyst. Bill was a communicant at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Bethel Park and a member of the Men's Ministry at the South Hills Bible Chapel hosted by former Pittsburgh Steeler, Tunch Ilkin. From an early age, Bill's passion was baseball. He played Little League in Falls Church and continued with Pony and Colt Leagues in Bethel Park. As a teenager in 1968, Bill attended Ted Williams Baseball Camp in Lakeville, MA where he and other boys received daily instruction by Ted Williams who was impressed with Bill's pitching ability. During his college years, he played in the semi-pro Greater Pittsburgh Federation Baseball League where he excelled as a pitcher for his South Side team. In 1976, he was selected as the starting pitcher in the league's all-star game. Bill had close friendships with several professional ballplayers, including Ferguson Jenkins (Cubs) and Don Sutton (Dodgers). In his spare time, he enjoyed attending sports memorabilia shows and keeping in touch with former and current ballplayers. He traveled to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY on several occasions for the induction ceremonies. Bill had a knack for obtaining signed memorabilia. If a family member or friend remarked about their favorite player, they would soon receive a ball, bat, or photograph from Bill with a personal inscription from that ballplayer. Survivors include his father; a brother, Cmdr. Frank Coyle, USN-retired (Alfie) of Virginia Beach, VA; a nephew, Lt. Cmdr. Frank Coyle, USN (Kelly) of Leonardtown, MD; a niece, Alexandra Coyle of Richmond, VA; grandnieces Nina and Giuliana Coyle of Leonardtown; an aunt, Marie Coyle of Lodi, CA; a step-nephew, Jeremy Lopez of Virginia Beach (Bill took Jeremy to his first Major League ballgame); and many cousins in Massachusetts, Georgia, Indiana, and California. In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no visitation or wake service. JOHN J. "JACK" BURIK, SR. Age 91, of McKees Rocks, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Jack was born on March 10, 1928 to the late Stephen and Margaret (Cypher) Burik. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Herczak) Burik for 70 years; loving father of John Jack, Jr. (Kathryn), Margaret (Joseph) Ryznar, Stephen (Linda), Robert (Sherry), Renee Russell (Charles); cherished grandfather of Jason, Stephen (Dana), Christina, Rachelle (Hayden) Lamb, and Justin Russell; great-grandfather of Nicholas, Zachary, Christopher, and Alexander Lamb; brother of the late Jerome Burik (surviving spouse, Claudia “Dolly”). Jack, Sr. was a highly successful teacher and coach at St. Malachy Catholic School and Bishop Canevin High School for over 30+ years (baseball, basketball, football) as well as coaching at West Allegheny High School and Ft. Cherry High School. He was inducted into Canevin's Hall of Fame as an Educator in 2006 as well as the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Hall of Fame in 2014. An avid sports fan, he remained loyal to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and loved horse and dog racing as well. Jack loved life, his wife, Irene and his entire family. After graduating from McKees Rocks High School, he served in the United States Navy and later graduated from Duquesne University. His late father, Steve, late mother, Margaret (Cypher) and late brother, Jerome along with late nephew, Jerome, Jr. are also with Jesus awaiting Jack, Sr. Jack will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his extended family and friends. He lived a full, active and love filled life. May God Bless Jack, Sr. Friends and family may visit SUNDAY, 2-8 p.m., at McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 334 Forest Grove Rd., Kennedy Twp., where prayers will be offered Monday, 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Malachy Church.
